Romanian envoy to Singapore Silviu Ionescu, is claiming that the hit-and-run accident was a “set up” by the Singapore government.
He claims that his increased reporting on Singapore’s political scene made him “an inconvenient person” in Singapore.
The Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement which “categorically rejected” Ionescu’s claim, and that these were “very serious allegations against the integrity of the Singapore Government which MFA categorically rejected as lacking any basis in fact.”
Ionescu is being investigated in a fatal hit-and-run accident on 15 Dec 2009.
